(Updated at 18:24) – The victim of this morning’s fatal three-car crash on Highway 101 near Salinas has been identified as 49-year-old Julio Alejandro Aguilar of Salinas. The incident was reported on southbound Highway 101 at Hartnell Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. According to the CHP, Aguilar was driving a Honda Civic when he made a fatal U-turn across the center divide, crashing into an oncoming Ford Explorer. Two people in the Explorer were reportedly taken to the hospital including 49-year-old Elvia Ninodorantes and a 17-year-old.

The incident was reported on southbound Highway 101 at Hartnell Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Officials say a driver attempted to make a U-turn across the center divide and crashed into oncoming traffic. One person was killed and several other victims were transported to the hospital. The incident is under investigation.
