New evacuation orders have been issued for the more than 4,000 River Fire, that is still considered 10% contained. It has already destroyed at least 6 structures and damaged several others….and it threatens 1500 more. The lightning-caused wildfire broke out early Sunday morning in the area of Pine Canyon Road and River Road, and has moved southward from there.
Mandatory Evacuations are in place for Pine Canyon Road, Parker Road, Laurel Lane, and Trimble Hill Lane.
An Evacuation Advisory remains in place for the area south of River Road Between Tara Drive and Pine Canyon Road. Other areas under an Evacuation Advisory include the Indian and Harper Canyon areas, as well as the area southwest of Parker Road.
River Road is closed between Pine Canyon Road and Parker Road. Drivers on Highways 101 and 68 are advised to be aware of emergency vehicles.
Toro Park is CLOSED while Cal-Fire uses it as a staging area for their equipment and personnel.
A new Evacuation Center has been opened for people at toro Park School….which is located at 22,500 Portola Drive. The center will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. through at least Friday, so that people can cool-off and re-group.
Animals can be evacuated to the S.P.C.A. For Monterey County or the Marina Equestrian Center.
The washingtion union school district has canceled all in-person and virtual activities this week….including the pick-ups of textbooks and other school materials.
