UPDATE- 2 ARR FOR SC MAN’S MURDER 05.04.2020 0730 JS•SS

Following the initial arrest of the Richmond couple charged with the murder of a Santa Cruz man, a possible motive has been revealed.

A detective’s account was recently filed regarding the April 4 murder of UCSC student Zane Groves.

The report alleges that Groves was sitting in a parked car in South San Jose when Jason Koplin attempted to rob him of psychoactive mushrooms.

Koplin, as well as his alleged accomplice Violet Smyth, remain behind bars in Las Vegas while awaiting transportation to Santa Clara County for their extradition.
