Approximately 1,000 campground and hotel reservations have had to be cancelled so far in Yosemite National Park. That’s because officials with the Park, have closed portions of it due in-part to the smoke from the more than 41,000 acre Ferguson Fire burning nearby. A 20 miles stretch of State Route 41 has also been closed to visitors until at least Sunday, so that firefighters working to contain the wildfire can try and keep it out of the national park. The last time the Yosemite Valley was closed was also due to a wildfire. That was back in 1990.
