The University of California has become a registered electric service provider. This month the university will begin providing electricity to medical centers and five of their campuses, including its Santa Cruz campus. The UC will no longer purchase electricity from PG&E and instead will purchase it from other suppliers. This transition is expected to happen at the end of this month in an attempt to save money and take a step toward carbon neutrality.
