New data released today, shows a drop in unemployment rates statewide as well as on the Central Coast. Statewide unemployment is down from 12.5% in April to 12.4% in May. Monterey County unemployment rates showed an 11% decline in May from a 12.7 percentage in April, San Benito County meanwhile, reported a 17.6% in May compared to 19.25% in April and in Santa Cruz County, unemployment went down from 13.5 percent in April to 11.5% in May. According to state records, Non-farm jobs in the state rose 28,300 in May.
