On Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. an undercover operation resulted in thirty-four crosswalk violation citations and some verbal warnings along Soquel Drive. Soquel has been prone to wrecks involving pedestrians according to California Highway Patrol. The two crosswalks that most incidents occur have been at Hardin Way and Robertson Street, and Portola Drive and 36th Avenue. Santa Cruz County had 110 pedestrian injuries or deaths in 2015, the eleventh in the state among fifty-eight counties according to the California Office of Traffic Safety.
