In response to proposed changes to their pension and retirement health benefits, dozens of U.C. Santa Cruz workers protested in front of the campus’s main entrance this afternoon. The 2-hour rally, organized by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees 32-99, was part of a coordinated day of rallying on all U.C. campuses. Roughly 60 protestors including professors, students and U.C.S.C employees from other divisions participated. Alterations to the retirement benefits and the fee increase are subject to approval by the U.C. Board of Regents, who are expected to address a reform plan during a December 13th meeting.
