UC Santa Cruz has approved a plan to increase student housing and expand childcare services. In a statement, the university said the Student West Housing will include housing space for more than 3,000 graduate and upper-division undergraduate students by building new housing units.
Childcare services will also be expanded under the plan.
The new housing will be built on land at the intersection of Hagar and Coolidge roads. A new early childhood education center for the children of faculty, staff, and students will also be completed.
University officials said they hope to get construction underway as soon as possible.
