A panel of bikers, UCSC students, faculty and staff are expected to meet tomorrow night to discuss illegal mountain biking at UC Santa Cruz’s upper campus. At issue is the environmental impact created by bikers riding on the single track trails, despite a current ban. School officials say mountain biking has negative impacts on the endangered Ohlone Tiger Beetle, which is found only in the upper campus, along with a natural reserve, that is used specifically for teaching and research.
