Hundreds of workers that cook food, drive buses, and maintain the grounds at UC Santa Cruz are planning a three day strike starting May 7th and ending May 9th. The strike called by the local chapter of the American Federation Of State County And Municipal Employees announced that after years of stalled contract negotiations, ninety-seven percent of the members voted for the strike. The union also cited that a recent report shows the minorities and women workers are paid less than their white male peers, another reason for the strike.
