THE FOUNDER OF THE GENOME 10K PROJECT HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO RECEIVE THE 2011 WELDON MEMORIAL PRIZE. THE PRIZE, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1911, IS AWARDED FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MATHEMATICAL OR STATISTICAL METHODS APPLIED TO PROBLEMS IN BIOLOGY. THIS YEAR’S RECIPIENT IS U.C.S.C. BIO-MOLECULAR ENGINEERING PROFESSOR DAVID HAUSSLER.
