UC SANTA CRUZ REPORTS A JUMP IN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENROLLMENT THIS YEAR. ADMISSION RATES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND OUT OF STATE STUDENTS HAVE BOTH INCREASED BY 20%, WHILE ENROLLMENT RATES FOR STATE RESIDENTS HAVE DROPPED FROM 61.6 TO 46%. SINCE 2009, LESS THAN 17 INTERNATIONAL FRESHMAN HAVE ENROLLED AT UCSC EACH YEAR COMPARED TO THIS FALL, WHERE THE UNIVERSITY EXPECTS 105 FRESHMEN MOSTLY FROM CHINA, KOREA, CANADA, HONG KONG, AND TAIWAN. ACCORDING TO A 2012 STUDY, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENROLLMENT HAS GROWN ACROSS THE NATION SINCE 2005.
