The Director of Admissions at UC Santa Cruz was abruptly fired without explanation on Friday. Michael McCawley is disputing the end to his 36 year career and has retained a lawyer to review his legal options. UC Santa Cruz’s admissions department has come under speculation in the past few years as the university has continued to increase the admission of out of state and international students who pay nearly double the tuition of California residents. UC Santa Cruz spokesman Scott Hernandez-Jason has declined to comment on the matter.
