UCSC students protesting police violence and tuition rate hikes blocked entrances to the University yesterday (Thursday). In the morning, University officials sent out an advisory telling students and staff of the blockages, and suggesting avoiding the campus for the day. At about 4:15 p.m. the Santa Cruz police department sent out a nixle alert stating that the campus was expected to remain closed into the evening, but that adjacent roadways were open to traffic.
