a plan that would raise undergraduate tuition as much as 16 percent in the university of california system was denied by the board of regents. the proposal called for basic tuition for california residents to top 22-thousand dollars by the 2015-2016 academic year. the board of regents did not even hold a vote on the plan, knowing it would garner little, if any, support. a different proposal is expected to be presented in november by uc executives, that will likely include some form of tuition hikes.
