A U.C. – SANTA CRUZ BIO-INFORMATICS TEAM WON AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION. THE 6 SCHOLARS, (WHO WERE UP AGAINST 74 OTHER TEAMS) DEVELOPED A SOFTWARE PROGRAM THAT USED COMPUTER ALGORITHMS THAT HELPED THEM MAKE THE MOST ACCURATE PREDICTION IN IDENTIFYING HOW BREAST CANCER CELLS WOULD RESPOND TO SPECIFIC STIMULI. THE HOPE IS THAT THIS SOFTWARE CAN BE USED TO HELP IDENTIFY DRUGS TARGETS THAT CAN EFFICIENTLY FIGHT THE CANCER.
