Two groups of workers are now striking against the University of California, Santa Cruz. Both are seeking a raise in pay.
Skilled trade workers are out as they seek a contract agreement. Meanwhile, student instructors and teaching assistants remain on strike from last term over their demands of a cost-of-living salary increase. The graduate students say they are holding an estimated 13-thousand grades from last quarter waiting for school administrators to approve the $1,400-per-month pay increase they seek. The two union groups held a joint protest Thursday in front of the school administration building.
