Turkey rescued from SC homeless encampment 11-26-19 14:51 DC

KION Television reports that a live turkey is safe after being rescued from a homeless encampment near the San Lorenzo River earlier today (Tuesday).

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter said Animal Control officers along with Santa Cruz police Rangers found the neglected turkey. They believe it had been living in the camp for several weeks.

The gobbler was taken to the shelter, is being cared for,  and doesn’t have to worry about being eaten for Thanksgiving.
