JURORS HEARD CLOSING STATEMENTS MONDAY IN THE TRIAL OF A MAN ACCUSED OF THE 2008 FATAL SHOOTING AN 11 YEAR OLD GIRL. ESTHER RUBIO, AND HER 15 YEAR OLD BROTHER, WERE BOTH SHOT AT A KING CITY HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER GAME. 20 YEAR-OLD EZEKIEL LOPEZ-FIGUEROA WHO WAS TRIED AS AN ADULT IS ACCUSED OF MURDER, ATTEMPTED MURDER, ASSAULT WITH A FIREARM, PARTICIPATING IN A CRIMINAL STREET GANG AND OTHER GUN AND GANG CRIMES.
TWO OTHER TEENAGERS ARRESTED ALONG WITH LOPEZ-FIGUEROA HAVE BEEN SENTENCED IN JUVENILE COURT.
THE TRIAL, WHICH BEGAN LAST WEEK, INCLUDED A VIDEO CONFESSION FROM THE DEFENDANT AND TESTIMONIES FROM WITNESSES, THE SURVIVING SIBLING, AND THE TEENS WHO ADMITTED TO THEIR ROLE IN THE CASE.
