A tree that was cut down before Christmas at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Salinas has been replaced. Shortly after the 20-25 foot evergreen was cut down, an anonymous donor offered $1,000 to either replace the tree, or as a reward for information leading to an arrest. The new evergreen, an Aptos Blue (also known as Sequoia Sempervirens), was planted yesterday, and is said to have adhered to the ground and be doing well.
