A transient woman has been accused of dragging an 11-year-old boy over three Santa Cruz roads and through Grant Street Park on Saturday has a pair of recent convictions and nine criminal cases in the county.
46-year-old Shelly Ann Minson is accused of kidnapping the boy four days after she was released from jail for uttering offensive words; she was convicted of that offense March 25, according to court documents. Superior Court Judge John Salazar dismissed two charges of trespassing and exhibiting a deadly weapon.
She is now charged with felony kidnapping and false imprisonment as well as misdemeanor permitting a child to suffer.
Minson pleaded not guilty during her arraignment Wednesday. She is expected back in court on April 15th.
