A TRAFFIC STOP TURNED INTO A MAJOR DRUG BUST IN WATSONVILLE ON WEDNESDAY. 33-YEAR-OLD ANDRES GARCIA MENA WAS PULLED OVER JUST AFTER 6 P-M ON ATKINSON LANE NEAR FREEDOM BOULEVARD AND WAS FOUND TO BE DRIVING UNLICENSED. MENA WAS ARRESTED AND A SEARCH OF HIS VEHICLE TURNED UP 39 GRAMS OF METHAMPHETAMINE, 4 GRAMS OF COCAINE AND 600 DOLLARS IN CASH. FOLLOWING HIS ARREST MENA’S RESIDENCE ON DOLORES AVENUE WAS SEARCHED AND POLICE FOUND AN ADDITIONAL 12 GRAMS OF METH, 4 MORE GRAMS OF COCAINE AND 11 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH. HOMELAND SECURITY INVESTIGATORS PLACED AN IMMIGRATION HOLD ON MENA DURING THE INVESTIGATION; HE WAS BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL ON CHARGES OF TRANSPORTATION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE AND POSSESSION FOR SALES OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE.
