Thursday Big-Rig Accident Names Released – 04/12/15 14:13 S.S.

The 2 people injured in Thursday’s accident on Highway 101 in Salinas were transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. Although he did not suffer any serious injuries during the accident, 54 year-old Thomas Olson, the driver of the southbound Penske big-rig that flipped over into northbound traffic (landing on top of a Kia Rio), is thought to have experienced a medical emergency just before the accident. 33 year-old Salinas resident Moses Garcia, the driver of the Kia, suffered a severe spinal injury. The many good samaritans (a nearby farmer who used his tractor to help off-load the Penske truck’s cargo, nearby fieldworkers, and other drivers….who all helped off-load the rig and render medical aid) are believed to be why the injuries were not far worse.
