The UCSC protesters that blockaded Highway1 on March 3rd have entered a plea. Yesterday morning (Thursday) all six of the students pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and creating a public nuisance. Prosecutors had been pushing for sentences of 18 months behind bars; however a Santa Cruz County judge is expected to sentence the protesters to 30 days in jail and to pay $40,000 as a group in restitution. The six are due back in court for sentencing on June 29th .
