The Rail Trail between Santa Cruz and Davenport has run into a problem because a property line is not where it was thought to be. The Rail Trail’s master plan calls for a 12 foot paved trail and 6 foot wide gravel path alongside. This was based on the belief that the publicly-owned strip of land along the railroad right of way was centered on the track, which has turned out to not be true. Now the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission will have to consider other options before the 2020 deadline to begin the project.
