Teacher Gun, No Wrongdoing-3/25/18-1103-PMD

The Seaside Police Department has finished its investigation of the discharge of a firearm in a classroom. The department is classifying the March 13th incident, where teacher, Dennis Alexander discharged a firearm during a Public Safety class, as an accident. The department is recommending that no charges be filed because Alexander is allowed to have the weapon on school grounds due to his status as a sworn reserve duty police officer. Alexader is also  a city councilman and a red Cross volunteer. The case will now be turned over to the Monterey District Attorney’s office for further review.
