Union workers at salinas valley memorial hospital have rejected a contract offer from hospital administrators. Union officials followed the opposing vote, with a notice of intent to strike. The 10-day notice sets Tuesday, October 18th, as the day that nurses and other employees will walk off the job. The contract reportedly asks workers to contribute more towards their health care costs, and keeps wages flat. Meanwhile, hospital administrators are scheduled to hold a public meeting on the situation, on Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., at the National Steinbeck Center.
