Board members of salinas valley memorial hospital voted to approve a labor contract thursday. the board’s vote was expected to be made last week, (following union approval), but the action was postponed until thursday. the contact includes a 1-point-75-percent pay increase for workers, and no change in medical benefits. Another 1-point-5-percent pay raise is scheduled to take effect in february of 2013. the contract ends a year of negotiations. Hospital employees were represented by their union, the national union of healthcare workers.
