The city of scotts valley, along with the scotts valley police department, is sponsoring red ribbon week this week, in support of living drug-free. Red ribbon week was initiated after the murder of d.e.a. agent Enrique camarena, in 1985. wearing red ribbons is meant to honor him, and show support for living a drug-free life-style. As part of the campaign, a poster contest is being held among students in scotts valley. Winners will receive a barbeque lunch, courtesy of the scotts valley police department, and a ride in the swat vehicle. A grand prize of 5-hundred dollars in credit to scotts valley cycle- sport will also be awarded.
