The Santa Cruz County Bomb Squad was called out after Scotts Valley police found an incendiary device, Friday. At about 2 p.m., officers responding to reports of a suicidal man arrived on the 400 block of Whispering Pines Drive to find a 58-year-old man holding a revolver. The man, described as resistive at first was taken into protective custody, where he told investigators about an incendiary device at his home. The bomb squad then removed the device from the residence, and detonated it at the nearby closed Skypark Airfield at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning. Charges may be pending.
