the trial of a contractor accused of unintentionally starting the 2008 summit wildfire has been delayed. 52 year old channing verden is set to stand trial on january 23rd, after his attorney filed a court document asking for more preparation time. verden allegedly failed to extinguish large piles of logs that he and a crew were burning while clearing a summit road property.
the summit wildfire burned 63 homes, 69 outbuildings and charred over 4-thousand acres.
