Santa Cruz city leaders have approved an emergency stopgap measure to prevent baseless evictions. That means that Santa Cruz landlords will not be able to evict their tenants without the state-defined “just causes”. This measure is designed to create a ‘buffer’ between now, and when state rent control is scheduled to go into effect.
