The Santa Cruz City School District has announced policy changes. The changes will be in the way the district notifies the community of school emergencies. Last month, members of the community were upset at not receiving real time text alerts when a 13-year-old student brought a loaded handgun to school. Officials say that text alerts will now go out as situations occur. An anonymous text tip line for students is also going to be made available.
