A convicted child molester has been denied a retrial in Santa Cruz County Superior court. On Friday, a judge denied motions challenging the 2016 trial and conviction of 62 year old Steven Weissman. During the trial prosecutors alleged that Weissman volunteered as a foster parent, an at several schools as well as child mentoring organizations, and used his positions to molest young boys. Weissman was found guilty of 12 counts of lewd acts with a child younger than 14, lewd acts with a child, aggravated sexual assault of a minor and copulation with a child younger than 10. He will be due back in court May 29th for sentencing.
