At least part of what killed the Great White Shark (that washed ashore last week) was an as-yet-unidentified pathogen, that caused serious brain and liver damage. The shark had already suffered damage from waves pushing it into the rocks before it was spotted Friday….and Sean Van Sommeran (from the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation) said that just doesn’t happen to healthy sharks. The state expects to learn more about the pathogen when they finish cross tests with other labs.
