After 9 years as Soledad’s top law enforcer, Chief Eric Sills says he will retire effective October 15th. Deputy Chief Damien Wasson will take over as interim chief until a replacement is found.
Before Soledad, Sills spent 28 years with San Jose PD. Reflecting on his time in Soledad, Sills told KSBW television he is most proud of starting the annual “Cops Giving Tree” which gives hundreds of presents to underprivileged youth in the south Monterey County area.
When he leaves, Sills will have spent 37 years in law enforcement.
