a p.g. & e. executive was present at the santa cruz county board of supervisors meeting, to respond to complaints that the utility company shut off power to those who removed smart meters from their homes. at least 3 p.g.&e. customers have said that they lost their power after hiring an electrician to remove smart meters from their homes, replacing the wireless device with an analog meter. a representative from the utility said that tampering with a p.g.&e. meter who is not a p.g.&e. trained professional creates an urgent public safety issue.
