Although Santa Clara County Supervisors have now voted (unanimously) to endorse plans for a mosque and cemetery to be constructed in San Martin, the local Islamic community is bracing for having some of their neighbors continue to oppose the planned facility. Members of the Islamic community bought the 14-acre site (on Monterey Road) more than a dozen years ago. The plans for the Cordoba Center are slated to come back to the board for one more vote. Members of the San Martin Islamic community are hoping to break ground on the property early next year.
