About 50 percent of the San Lorenzo Valley’s water supply has reportedly been damaged. That’s because 8 miles of piping has reportedly been destroyed by the CZU August Lightning Complex fire. The material the piping is made out of includes petroleum by-products, so there’s the further worry that the chemicals could seep into the clean water (as it did during the Camp Fire in northern California 2 years ago). The loss of 4.5 million gallons of water means that water conservation is even more important now.
The Water District will be getting an emergency contract to get 2 of the district’s water tanks (that were damaged by the CZU August Lightning Complex fire) back on-line as quickly as possible.
