A bond measure that would have merged the Lompico water district with the San Lorenzo Valley water district failed to pass by less than half a percent of the vote. The $3.2 million bond would have funded infrastructure to the 500 customers of the troubled Lompico Water District, and although some are disappointed about the outcome, others say they will move forward, and address the systems issues. The Santa Cruz County Clerks office says that although the 67 percent voter turnout is relatively high that the bond measure was so close that literally 1 vote could have passed the measure.
