The Salinas Police Department has been chosen to administer funds to fight DUI. This marks the 15th year that the department will decide how to spend the $200,000 Avoid the 20 state grant for Monterey and San Benito counties. Plans will include coordinating law enforcement agencies DUI check points, as well as roving saturation DUI patrols. A portion of the funding will also be specifically used to target repeat offenders with suspended licenses driving away from court appearances.
