Although Cal-Trans officials initially hoped to re-open highway 1 in the Mud Creek and Paul Slide’ areas tomorrow (Friday), they are now saying it will be at least Saturday before they send their geo-technical crews out to check on the coastal highway. That’s because the weather forecast shows the possibility of thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall through Sunday.
The gates on either side of mud creek and paul’s slide will be key locked. These gates will not be manned when the highway is closed and there will be no access to anyone, including emergency services.
