PLANS FOR A SKATEPARK IN CAPITOLA ARE EXPECTED TO BE PRE-VIEWED AT TOMORROW’S EVENING MEETING OF THE CAPITOLA CITY COUNCIL. THE LINEAR PARK IS DESIGNED TO FIT BETWEEN NEW BRIGHTON MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE SOFTBALL FIELD….WHERE A RIBBON OF CONCRETE (FOR LONG RUNS) COULD BE PUT ALONG WITH A BUMPS, COPING AND RAILS. THE 9 THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT SKATEPARK IS SCHEDULED TO BE PREVIEWED AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THAT IS SLATED TO BEGIN AT 7 P.M. (IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 420 CAPITOLA AVENUE IN CAPITOLA).
A SKATEPARK HAS BEEN IN THE CITY’S 5-YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN SINCE 2004, BUT THE CITY, WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PAY FOR IT, STILL CAN’T. THAT’S WHY SUPPORTERS HAVE BEEN PRIVATELY FUNDRAISING FOR the FACILITY, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
