Three students at San Jose State University have been charged with a misdemeanor hate crime and battery for harassing a Santa Cruz man because he is black. The former roommates shared a 4-bedroom suite at San Jose State, where the perpetrators have been accused of flying a Confederate flag and desecrating the apartment with Nazi and Satanic symbols. In addition, The students allegedly barricaded the victim in his room, while latching a bike lock around his neck. San Jose State has suspended the students. If convicted, they could face a year in jail.
