911 callers in an area of san juan bautista couldn’t get through to emergency dispatchers on wednesday. a.t.&t phone lines to the santa cruz regional 911 center had been misrouted when emergency response service for san benito county was switched to santa cruz. a small area of san juan bautista was affected by the misrouting. calls regarding smoke over the mountains from a controlled burn went unanswered. county supervisors and emergency response officials say that better communication needs to be in place between a t &t and the dispatch center.
