Four shootings over the past few months have prompted Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s to increase patrols around Winkle Park and along Soquel Drive. The goal is to contact suspicious people, and deter any more violence from happening. There’s a deputy assigned to the Winkle Park area where recent reports have been people using drugs or alcohol in the park, gang graffiti and people loitering. The sheriff’s want to make sure the parks and surrounding environments are places the public can feel safe.
