a ceremony was held yesterday at the naval postgraduate school to honor two soldiers and a civilian paramedic for assisting a monterey man who was attacked by a shark in october. the 27 year old victim suffered injuries on his neck, shoulder, wrist and forearm after a shark attacked his surfboard. two soldiers, army major jonathan bleakley and master sergeant garric banfield brought the man to shore, where paramedic lorenzo navarro rendered first aid. bleakley and banfield were honored with the army commendation medal, and navarro was awarded a certificate of commendation.
