An employee of the Salinas Police Department pleaded not guilty this afternoon to charges filed against him for sexually assaulting a minor. 28-year old Scott Callan, an adviser to the department’s Explorer program, is charged with multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts of a child under the age of 15 by a person at least 10 years older. Callan, a Community Service Officer, is accused of sexually assaulting a girl now 16, between December 2009 and March. Callan, who was arrested on October 6th, is slated to return to court on November 17.
