Officials with some local animal services agencies have reduced the services they are currently offering. Officials with Monterey County Animal Services and Salinas Animal Services say that they have suspended community public spay and neuter services for cats, as well as public outreach events, the volunteer program, and the new volunteer orientations. Animal control officers (wearing personal protective gear) will still respond to public safety and animal welfare calls, but calls that are less urgent will be deferred. They will wear personal protection equipment whenever they are working with the public.
